eInvoice Validator for VAMPIRE — VAMPIRE JS – Manual

Applies to version 1.0.2. As of 26.10.2026.

1 · Overview

VAMPIRE JS is an add-on for the eInvoice Validator for VAMPIRE. Without it, the validator page sends every invoice to your site, where VAMPIRE PHP checks it. With the add-on, the page checks the invoice in the visitor's browser with VAMPIRE JS. The invoice is not sent to your site.

What the add-on does:

  • It checks against the same rule sets as VAMPIRE PHP: EN 16931 for UBL and CII, XRechnung, Peppol and the Factur-X and ZUGFeRD profiles.
  • It shows the same report as the check on the server, with the same explanations and the same document view.
  • It offers report.xml for download, written in the same format as on the server.
  • With the setting "Positive test report" switched on, it also lists every rule with its result and offers the JSON report and the print version.

What the add-on does not do:

  • It does not change the button "Validate with VAMPIRE" in the eInvoice Viewer. That button still checks on the server.
  • It offers no "Download report.html". That HTML report is written by VAMPIRE PHP only.
  • It does not apply the settings "Check against every edition" and "Rule profiles". While either of them is in use, the page checks on the server as before, and the settings page says so next to the setting.
  • It does not count browser checks against the daily upload limit, because they do not use your server.

Settings

The add-on has no settings page of its own. The settings of the validator under eInvoice Validator → VAMPIRE apply to the browser check as well, with the two exceptions named in the overview.

3 · Working with the add-on

The page looks the same as before, and you use it the same way: drop a PDF or an XML file, and the report appears below. A ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF is read in the browser as before, and the embedded XML is checked.

If "Positive test report" is switched on in the validator settings, the section "Checked rules" names every rule with its result in the browser check as well. It names VAMPIRE JS as the engine.

A large invoice takes a moment longer on a slow computer, because the visitor's computer now does the work. The first check on a page also loads the rule packages, about 10 MB; every further check on the same page uses them again.

If the browser check fails, the page says so in red. It does not send the invoice to the server instead, because the visitor was told that the invoice stays on the computer.

4 · Privacy

The invoice stays in the visitor's browser. Neither the invoice nor the report is sent to your site or to any other service. The browser loads the rule packages and the field catalogue from your site, as it loads any other file of the page.

5 · Licence

The add-on is a paid product. It contains VAMPIRE JS and the rule sets of their publishers. The file assets/vampire/NOTICE names the publisher, version and licence of every rule set, and the folder assets/vampire/licences/ holds the full licence texts.
