eInvoice Viewer — EPC QR Code – Manual
1 · Overview
The add-on "EPC QR Code" adds the tab Transfer code to the WordPress plugin "eInvoice Viewer for PEPPOL & EN16931". The tab shows the EPC QR code of the invoice, which German banks call GiroCode. A banking app reads beneficiary, IBAN, amount and remittance information from it, so nobody has to type the transfer.
What the add-on does:
- It builds the code from the payment details of the invoice the viewer has already read.
- It shows the values the code carries next to it, so that you can compare them with the banking app before you send the transfer.
- It lets you choose when the invoice names several bank accounts.
- It says in one sentence why an invoice gets no code.
What the add-on does not do:
- It does not check whether the bank account belongs to the supplier. A changed bank account is the most common pattern of invoice fraud; compare it with the one you know before every payment. The page says so above the code.
- It does not transfer money itself and has no access to a bank account.
- It does not create the code of the Swiss QR-bill.

For the viewer app the add-on is a ZIP file of its own in the shop. There it works entirely in the browser, without WordPress and without a server.
From version 2.38.0 of the viewer the code stands in its own tab "Transfer code", in the plugin and in the app alike. With an older viewer the button Transfer code in the toolbar shows it in an area next to the invoice.
Settings
The add-on has no settings page of its own. On the viewer's settings page, "Available from role" decides who sees the add-ons.
3 · Working with the add-on
The tab "Transfer code" appears by itself as soon as the invoice names a bank account, and it stays closed until you click it. It shows the note on comparing the bank account, the code and the values it carries. If the invoice names several bank accounts, choose the account in the field Bank account above the code. A new invoice or "Reset" removes the tab, so that the code of another invoice never stays on the page. With button_speq="no" in the shortcode of the viewer the tab does not appear on that page.

| Value | Field of the invoice |
|---|---|
| Beneficiary | the account holder ( BT-85 ), else the payee ( BT-59 ), else the seller ( BT-27 ) |
| IBAN and BIC | the bank account ( BT-84 and BT-86 ) |
| Amount | the amount due ( BT-115 ) |
| Remittance information | the remittance information of the invoice ( BT-83 ), else the invoice number ( BT-1 ) |
The account holder comes first because banks compare the beneficiary's name with the IBAN.
When there is no code
An invoice without a bank account, or one paid by direct debit or by card, gets no tab. For the other cases the tab says why there is no code.
screenshots/eq-kein-code.en.pngThe tab for an invoice in another currency than euro: instead of the code, a sentence says why there is none| What the page says | Why |
|---|---|
| This invoice names no bank account for a transfer. | The invoice carries no IBAN. |
| No transfer code: this invoice is paid by direct debit or by card. | The means of payment is not a transfer; a transfer on top would pay twice. |
| No transfer code: the code exists only for invoices in euro. | The EPC QR code knows only euro. |
| No transfer code: nothing is due on this invoice. | The amount due is zero, for example after a prepayment. |
Switching it off on one page
In the shortcode of the viewer you switch off on a single page what this add-on shows, for example [spev_einvoice_viewer tab_transfer_code="no"]. Without the attribute everything stays on.
| Switch | What the page leaves out |
|---|---|
tab_transfer_code | the tab "Transfer code" |
button_speq | the same tab, under the older name |
A switch only takes something off this page. Who may use the add-on at all is set with "Available from role" in the settings of the viewer. The viewer app uses the same names in config.js, for example features: { tab_transfer_code: false }. Only the value false without quotes switches off.
4 · Privacy
The code is created in the browser from the invoice the viewer has already read. The add-on sends nothing to your site or to any other service, and it stores nothing.
5 · Licence
The add-on is licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later.
6 · Versions
| Version | What changed |
|---|---|
| 1.2.0 | The tab "Transfer code" appears by itself as soon as the invoice names a bank account; the button is gone. The field for choosing a bank account looks like the other fields of the viewer. |
| 1.0.0 | First version. |
7 · List of images
This list shows which screenshots this manual expects and which were found in the folder screenshots/ of the package. An image is always named key.language.png, for example eq-reiter.en.png. The images show sample data only.
