Two invoices in one file, and they may not agree

A ZUGFeRD or Factur-X invoice carries two invoices in one file: the PDF that a person reads and the XML data that your accounting software processes. Nothing in the format forces both to say the same thing. That is exactly where invoice fraud starts: the XML names a different IBAN, while the PDF still shows the familiar bank account. eInvoice Viewer — Hybrid Check adds this comparison to the free eInvoice Viewer.

What makes it special

• Protection against a swapped IBAN. As soon as the viewer has read an invoice with a visible PDF, the add-on compares its invoice number, total amount and bank account with the invoice data, by itself and without a click. What you get: a manipulated bank account in the XML is caught before your software pays it.
• The contradiction stands at the field. The result appears in the tab “Hybrid Check” as cards marked “Error”, “Warning” or “OK”, and a contradiction is also marked at the affected field of the invoice. A sentence above the invoice announces it, while the invoice itself stays in view. What you get: you see immediately which value differs and can compare both sides before you pay.
• Also for XRechnung with a PDF attached. A PDF embedded in an XRechnung is compared too, as long as it shows the invoice number. Supporting documents such as a contract or a bill of quantities are not compared. What you get: no false alarms from attachments that are not the invoice.
• Honest about its limits. A scanned PDF without readable text is not compared, and the add-on says so. Only contradictions are reported, not details missing from the PDF, because many templates print the bank account only as an image or not at all.
• The invoice stays with you. The comparison runs in the browser on the file the viewer has already read. Nothing is sent to your website or to any outside service, and nothing is stored.

Requirements

• WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 8.2 or later.
• The free eInvoice Viewer for PEPPOL & EN16931; version 2.38.0 or later for the tab “Hybrid Check”.
• In the app: the viewer app 2.37.1 or later instead of WordPress.
