An Italian e-invoice arrives as an XML file or as a signed file with the extension .p7m, and whoever opens it sees Italian element names and codes. The eInvoice Viewer for FatturaPA shows it as a readable document, with English or German field names and codes in plain text.

FatturaPA is the invoice format of the Italian Sistema di Interscambio (SdI). The viewer also unpacks signed files in the browser, and the invoice never leaves your computer.

What the Viewer for FatturaPA shows you

FPA12 and FPR12
It reads FatturaPA format version 1.2, to public administrations (FPA12) as well as to private parties (FPR12).
Signed .p7m files
Also Base64-encoded: the viewer unpacks them in the browser and shows them like an XML file.
Plain text instead of codes
Document type, tax regime, reason without tax and payment method appear as plain text, every field with an English or German name.
Every invoice of a file
A FatturaPA file can carry several invoices; each gets a section of its own with lines, tax summary and payment details as tables.
Attachments
Embedded attachments are listed with their size and can be saved.
Nothing gets lost
Every value of the file is shown, unknown ones under “Not in the catalog”. A switch shows the original Italian name of every field.

Who the viewer is for

For everyone who receives or checks FatturaPA invoices and wants to read them without Italian specialist software: accounting departments with Italian suppliers, tax advisers, integrators and software houses. The viewer stands on its own and needs no other package.

App and plugin

As an app without installation, as a plugin with the functions of your website

The app is a folder that you unpack and open with a double click, on your computer, on a network drive or on your intranet. It needs no server and, by default, loads nothing from the internet.

The WordPress plugin shows the same viewer on a page of your website with the shortcode [spfp_fatturapa_viewer]. Both forms carry the same version number, currently 1.0.0.

What the viewer deliberately does not do

It does not check the invoice against the rules of the SdI and does not say whether it will be accepted.
It does not check signatures; for a .p7m file it says that the file was signed.
It creates no invoices, sends nothing to the SdI and stores nothing.
It does not read the simplified invoice (FatturaPA semplificata).
For ZUGFeRD, XRechnung and Peppol there is the eInvoice Viewer for PEPPOL & EN16931.
